Monica received her BS degree in Biology, Vertebrate Physiology from Penn State University. During her undergraduate curriculum, she performed independent studies on mice to study to the osteogenic response and functional adaption to mechanical loading on femoral modeling, changes in body mass with growth, and effects of exercise and skeletal location. Since joining the Melnick Lab, she has continued to work with mice stimulating germinal centers and observing the response in regards to BCL6 signaling; as well as expanding and creating new mouse colonies for future experiments.

She aspires to continue her education with a PhD in the near future with emphasis in HIV/AIDS research. In the meantime, her continues to expand her knowledge in medical science in the hopes applying what she is learning to an infectious diseases related field.
