I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. As an undergraduate, I participated in multiple studies at the UM Miller School of Medicine examining the roles of various cells in the pathogenesis and remodeling of infant pulmonary hypertension. We investigated genetic influences in pulmonary hypertension and growth factors related to normal and disturbed lung development. I completed a senior honors thesis under the supervision of Dr. Cleide Suguihara on the role of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) on the development of chronic hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension.

I joined the Melnick lab in August of 2011, and I am currently working with Karen Bunting, PhD to understand how BCL6 mediates gene organization in normal and malignant B cells.
